Words beginning with "U"

Ubiquitous.

Wouldn't it be great if we could exist everywhere, or in all places, at the same time?  To be omnipresent would be wonderful. The first time I heard ubiquitous I fell in love. The word just rolls off your tongue, sounds sophisticated and has a musical ring to it.  Great word all around.

Ugsome.

Since I first learned of it, just to think the word "ugsome" brings a chuckle. The word deserves to be rescued from obscurity. It is very similar to its common relative, but since "ugly" is so often applied to the visual, "ugsome" can assume its place for non-visual synonyms for "disgusting" or "loathsome."

Umbrage.

One of my favourite (please note the spelling) words is umbrage. It's such a nice way to say that you're offended. It clearly indicates that you've got the "hump" with someone, just like a bridge.

Undulating.

To me, the word conjures up such a soothing image of hills gently sloping down towards green valleys....

Or the fluid movements of a dancer.

Or the cosmic energy of waves....
