Such a beautiful word, but also so sad.

It is a grammatical term. You repeat a word to add emphasis. Example of epizeuxis: I loved the ride so much, I went on it again, and again, and again.

Eclectic

When I was a teenager the mother of one of my friends said I was “an eclectic.” I knew what the word meant as an adjective but had never heard it used in that (unusual) way. I have long considered that one of the best compliments I’ve ever received.

It’s shocking, outrageous and conspicuously bad. Well, the word isn’t, but what it describes is. I love the ‘ous’-ness of the word. And the middle two syllables that sound like a heavy metal object being dragged, screeching along a concrete floor. And my wife told me she heard of a book called I Always Look up the Word “Egregious”. And it just tastes good on the tongue.

When I hear the word, I just imagine bolts of lightning striking the sky. It is such an energetic word that is totally filled with life. And then, in a flash, it’s all gone.

It’s amusing that you can turn most nouns into verbs in English. I like this one especially in contexts, where it’s opposed to having the computer check something.

It is a really awesome way of saying “extra” or “irrelevant.” Plus it is just incredibly fun to say, and most people actually don’t know what it means – but they think they should know, so they go along with it.

Look at it! It’s elucidate! How much more awesome can you get than that? No more, that’s how much!

It starts so softly. It fits frequently in phrases. Nearly no one knows it. However, it’s not my favorite anymore.

A woman with a lively, sparkling personality with – is that a glass of champagne in her hand? Can’t you just feel the bubbles tickling your tongue? Ahh, say it slowly … effervescent.
