Je Ne Sais Quoi

I love this words because firstly I love French English words. They sound so exotic and they are so cool! And this word has such a nice meaning. It means an indefinable, elusive quality, especially a pleasing one. This word has a certain charm to it

Тоска

Even though it is a Russian word (pronounced “Toska”) it is by far my favorite word. It comes in many degrees, and no English word can quite grasp it. At it’s strongest it is spiritual anguish (usually without a known cause), at lesser degrees it can mean a dull soul ache, a longing with [...]

Amethyst

Aside from being a beautiful purple stone, it’s a beautiful word as well. I like several words that use Y as a short I sound the whole word just… flows out. Like a ghost whispering.

Ponder

Ponder doesn’t mean just to think. It means to really think. Critically thinking on a subject is the same as pondering. Not jumping to conclusions. Just pondering.

Lackadaisical

I just love the way this word sounds, it’s so fun. It seems like a word that would describe something really upbeat and energetic, but in reality it’s the opposite. I feel much less guilty if I tell people I’m feeling lackadaisical as opposed to lazy.

epitome

I learned it from my favorite nun during a literature class at boarding school. As an avid reader of articles having to do with politics, I have reason to use this word regularly.

Tchotchke

The word has such a beautiful, crisp crunch when spoken. Although it doesn’t have a lot of usage similar to its definition, it’s a lovely word to throw out there and use.

Articulate

I love this word because of the way it feels in my mouth when I say it. It feels just like shifting a hard candy from one cheek to the other, with the candy clicking on your teeth.

Try it! Say it with me…. Articulate!

Wasn’t that fun?

Crestfallen

I like the way this word sounds. It’s like two words put together. I like what it means too. I think I feel crestfallen a lot and that would be another reason it’s my favorite.

Oneironaut

As a dream explorer myself, not only does this word define all that I strive for in my future and all my passion in doing what I love, but the word itself brings a smile to myself just by saying it. Sophisticated, yet simple, a word for all who love adventure.

Scenery

Say it aloud, slowly at first, and then let it roll naturally. The word itself evokes images of beautiful places, yet remains somehow neutral or pure.

Chocolate
