Prestidigitation

I just think this word is so much fun to say. My favorite way to say it is in place of a magic word. For example, I’ll make a coin or card disappear and shout “Prestidigitation!” as I reveal that it’s missing.

I love saying it. Plus, it means “to loiter aimlessly”, and etymologically it means “tongue trick”.

I love the pure joy of saying it – the way it rolls around the mouth. It just sounds so witheringly insulting, in a sort of lazy upper-class way. It means an utter coward, which is also wonderful, not just a coward, but an utter one. The derivative ‘poltroonery’, is also a delight.
