poltroon

I love the pure joy of saying it – the way it rolls around the mouth. It just sounds so witheringly insulting, in a sort of lazy upper-class way. It means an utter coward, which is also wonderful, not just a coward, but an utter one. The derivative ‘poltroonery’, is also a delight.
