I love this word because to my ears, it has such an ugly sound and yet means something quite the opposite: physical beauty. Also, it is so much fun to ask those people who don’t know the word what they think it means. Their surprise when they find out is terrific

I am madly in love with the word luscious because when spoken aloud in a slightly seductive tone, it sounds exactly like what it is supposed to be describing. If someone offered me a luscious steak, I would eat it even if I didn’t know the meaning of the word luscious. Simply because the [...]
Because it’s such an cocky/arrogant thing to say. Great conversation stopper. Part of any high school girl’s vocabulary.
I only realized how awesome this word was when I read its own wikipedia entry.
Best regards,

I think it sounds borderline dirty or almost vampiric. It’s a small word but speaks heavily. 1. To satisfy (an appetite or desire) fully. 2. To satisfy to excess.
Melissa Etheridge’s song “Silent Legacy” uses the word fantastically… “You are digging for the answers Until your fingers bleed To satisfy the hunger To satiate [...]

For some reason I’ve always liked this word. Its singular form- crisis- doesn’t really do much for me. But crises just sounds so beautiful. I don’t know why. It just does!

It’s simple. It’s onomatopoeic. When you say sponge, you can feel it. I feel like it describes itself. It’s not long or pretentious, it’s just a sponge. The sound of it is so different to the other words in the English dictionary.

Just say it out loud, slowly. It’s a little bubble of a word, it slips from your lips and floats away. It makes you think of showers and sunshine, and summer days outside hanging up washing in the sun. It’s pearly and delicate at the same time. It is, quite frankly, awesome.
Mae Canada
It’s a job title in the IT industry. I just love how bizarre and not self-explanatory it is!

It’s a very fun word to say with the way it makes your mouth sort of pop as you say it. I also enjoy the hobbit way of life. Lounging around all day with at least six meals everyday. A sort of dream life for me.

It means hawk-like. The first time I ever heard it, it was used in describing someone’s nose. I thought it was wonderful, because I always found those kind of hawk’s beak noses attractive.
