I love this word, if not for the strange looks I get when I choose to use this word rather than an assortment of smaller words or for the precision of its meaning, because of how often it applies to my own speech.

This is an interesting entry for several reasons.
1) The definition, “the use of too many words to say something, especially in order to avoid saying something clearly”, is, well, circumlocutory.
2) I’m all for descriptivism, but our generation is lexically challenged. I was once asked what “unalienable” meant… Jeez, our generation needs “circumlocution” because our forefathers wouldn’t need to say “we have these things that we have permission to do no matter what”.
3) Latin roots!
