I love the word Chuff because it can be used for absolutely anything! It’s even better to use instead of swearing, it sounds funny and make me chuckle. It takes the harshness out of the situation!

There appear to be a number of definitions to ‘chuff’ floating about. I don’t know if there are some derivations that descend from the word ‘chough’ (a type of crow). D.H. Lawrence in a wonderful little sonnet, “When I Read Shakespeare”, uses it this way:
Lear, the old buffer, you wonder his daughters
didn’t treat him rougher,
the old chough, the old chuffer.
Not very complimentary of the old king but a great word nonetheless.

Chuff = weed, herb, sativa, etc.
