Filth

You can never say it without meaning it- there’s a delicious way it slides out from between one’s teeth like vermin. Perfect.

Olio

Its definition, or at least the one I use the word for, ” A mixture or medley; a hodgepodge.”

I just love the way it rolls out of my mouth…. also I love it partially because of the olio of words which are its synonyms like “hodgepodge” and “mishmash” all of which seem to [...]

Stellar

Its a really cool sounding word. I love “l” sounds. It can mean “really great” like “that was a stellar performance” but the dictionary meaning is especially beautiful. “of or pertaining to the stars.” It is kind of a stereotypical surfer/skater type of word, even though they don’t actually say it, which is funny. [...]

Quixotic

It means exceedingly idealistic; unrealistic and impractical. I just love that it has both a Q and an X. Not the most common letters in the world, but it sounds perfectly natural.

Halcyon

The word itself sallies forth from the lips in a shimmering cloud of gold, just as the word conjures in the mind a golden paradise in the sky, and the meaning of a long-lost ideal or fond place of yesteryear brings a mixed feeling of sadness and fond memories.

Abligurition

It doesn’t sound so glamorous, but it means to spend in luxurious indulgence, particularly on food – Finally there’s a word to justify my favourite bad habit! Hundred dollar cheese anyone?

Chicken

I like to use this word as a substitute for swearing. Being around kids one summer made me have to do this. It ended up being great as this word is way more satisfying to yell out in public than any other choice four-letter word one may use. The only problem now is people [...]

Egregious

It’s shocking, outrageous and conspicuously bad. Well, the word isn’t, but what it describes is.  I love the ‘ous’-ness of the word.  And the middle two syllables that sound like a heavy metal object being dragged, screeching along a concrete floor. And my wife told me she heard of a book called I Always [...]

Thigh

It’s a soft marshmallow kind of a word, sounds like a low breath out – it conjures up an intimate image, and it’s just plain sexy.
