Many words claim to be the longest in the English language, but none of the others have 43 letters. Meaning? Why, does it need one? Apparently, pneumoniultramicroscoposilicovolcanicinosis is a rare lung condition caused by inhalation of silicon particles from volcanic ash. Better to say it than to have it…

You got the spelling wrong.
It’s pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis )
I am absolutely sure about this, because it’s my favorite word as well.
Is this the black lung?
not trying to ruin anything, but medical terms aren’t actually considered words in the english language….
I don’t think this counts, based on the fact that the word was invented just to be the longest word in the English language.
This has always been one of my favorites. Memorized when I was 8, I still use it when I want people to shut up for a second.
