Anomaly

I always thought this word was so pretty! It sounds like a flower or type of music. I even considered it as a possible name for a (hypothetical) daughter, but decided that I couldn’t saddle anyone with the burden of being labeled a “strange or unusual occurrence”!

Anomaly, in my experience, actually means: something that doesn’t fit typical categories. In one definition it refers to taboo items and practices as opposed to socially acceptable (respectable) modes of behaviour. It could also be defined as special or unique. Not bad names for a child.

Of course in today’s world there is less & less taboo and more & more “whatever”.

You know I never though of that word as something pretty until I saw what you said about it, and your right, it does sound like a kind of flower. Thank you for changing that word for me.
And personally I would love to have a name like that. If you did name a daughter that she could always have a nickname like Ama, or even Ann or Mal if she wanted something normal sounding.

Incubus has a a song called Anna Molly, when they sing it sounds like anamoly.

The Incubus song you spoke of, actually is referencing a girl named Anna Molly as his anamoly. Incubus writes great songs, if you stop and listen to the words, or even just read the lyrics.
