Ankylosing Spondylitis

It was my father’s favorite medical term. Having grown up heavily under Dr. Seuss’ influence, I had no idea that it actually existed.

I have days when both love this term and hate it for having to remember it. A rare condition in which the vertebrea, usually of the lumbar spine, fuse together preventing all movement; most common in children under the age of 17.

It’s a nice-sounding term but it is a horrible disease.
