Omphaloskepsis

It tickles me that there is a word for the act of contemplating your navel. How could it not be the coolest word in the English language?

  I recall my mother saying to us as children “stop contemplating your navel and make yourself useful”. Thanks goodness I didn’t know then what I know now – I doubt that my mother would have responded well to an erudite retort!
